March 22nd - PG Vikings vs. Lehi Pioneers
The Vikings bounced back from a tough loss on Tuesday to Lone Peak with a strong win over the Lehi Pioneers only dropping one match. The Vikings won 4-1.
In #1 singles PG's Hayden de Hoyos was defeated by Lehi senior Zach Dean. 2-6, 1-6.
PG's #2 singles player Jake Harris, otherwise known as the "Marathon Man" out did his last performance of 3hrs.and 20 min. with a match against Lehi's Landon Pontius which lasted 3hrs. and 30 min. except this time, the Freshman super star pulled out the victory!!!! He outlasted his opponent 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
PG's #3 Nick Olsen upped his region record to 2-0 today by defeating Lehi's Keaton Mathis who had no answer for Nicks on court play. Nick worked his points carefully, and moved Mathis all around the court and waited for the right moment to attack the net and finished the point. Nick won 6-1, 6-2 once again in a little under an hour.
PG's 1st Doubles team Jacob Eddinton and Quen Wilson brought their game today and sent Lehi's #1 doubles team Garcia & Peak off the court with a loss in a match where Quen spent more time lying down on the court then standing. He slipped several times chasing balls down and even tried to clime the fence once to return a lob. Jacob was tough as nails at the net today and PG defeated the Pioneers 6-4, 6-2.
PG's #2 Doubles team Tanner Merrill & Ryan Clifford defeated Lehi's Niclole & Spencer and were like a pair of synchronized swimmers today! They were moving together and covering every angle on the court. After a slow start and being down 1-4, Tanner and Ryan put it together and won 5 straight games to win the first set 6-4! They continued playing tough and working together to win the second set and the match 6-3.
