The Vikings started off their first season and region match against Lone Peak and had a tough day against the Knights losing the match 1-4.
PG's #1 Hayden de Hoyos had a tough assignment taking on Lone Peaks senior and #1 singles player Scott Bohne who will be playing for BYU next year. Hayden had some great points, but lost 1-6, 2-6.
In 2nd singles PG freshman star Jake Harris took LP's Blair Robbins to the absolute limit in a match that had 2 tie breaks and lasted 3 hrs and 20 min. Jake gave it his all but couldn't quite close it out. Jake lost 5-7, 7-6 (10-8), 6-7 (6-8).
The match of the day for PG and our only win was from Sophomore sensation Nick Olsen. Nick worked his Federer like magic and dismissed LP's Jens Neilson 6-4, 6-1 in a little under an hour.
In doubles, the Vikings pushed hard and had some chances, but were eventually overtaken by the Knights.
PG's 1st doubles team Quen Wilson & Jacob Eddington played against LP's Jake Sheffield & Ammon Story and played hard but lost 4-6, 5-7. This was a tough match and Jacob and Quen did not play their best tennis but still made it a match. I think LP better be ready next time we play, cause I think they are in for a surprise!
PG's 2nd doubles team is a new team made up of 2 very solid players Ryan Clifford & Tanner Merrill who are learning to play together but have great potential. Clifford and Merrill lost to LP's Ryan Hunter & Colton Carrier 0-6, 2-6.
