April 3rd PG vs. Bingham

Vikings defeat the Miners 3-2 on their new home courts! This was a tough match which came down to the wire.  It was a perfect day for tennis with lots of sun and just a slight breeze.  The Vikings were missing senior Jacob Eddington (1st Doubles) so the line up needed to shifted around a little and it gave us the opportunity to move some players into some different positions and give them a chance to grow in their games mentally.

Match of the Day
Freshman Jake Harris played #1 singles and had another "Marathon" match against Cody Benson in which they slugged it out toe to toe for almost 3 hrs.  Jake dropped the first set in a tie break, but came back strong after that, forcing Benson into frustration by making him hit more balls then he wanted to.   Jake also picked up his first serve percentage and pushed through the second set 6-4.  In the 3rd, Jake kept his foot on the peddle and jumped to a 5-0 lead.  Benson made one last push, but couldn't hold on mentally. Jake won the set 6-2 and the match!  This was a great match with great tennis.  Both players were hitting the ball solid and hard and there were several points that went over 20 strokes.  This was the first Varsity match on, and the last one off.  The team match was tied 2-2 until Jake finished it off to secure the win for the Vikings.
